Our passion for the events industry runs deep. You could call it a healthy obsession. While some might be able to switch off after a busy day at the office, the mind of an event specialist never stops ticking. We’re constantly planning, reorganising, conceptualising and thinking about our upcoming events. And in our spare time? We read up on the latest events news from around the globe, of course! There are a few interesting trends making their way through the industry this year, and others we’re not so crazy about. We’ve highlighted some of our favourites and added our own opinion. By all means take a look at what’s hot and what’s ‘so last season’, but remember that an event is extremely personal. At the end of the day, it’s all about your unique taste and style.
We love how the tech and event industry have come together over the years. In the corporate space, we’re seeing the integration of live streaming to bring you speakers from around the world – without them being present physically. Virtual Reality is making waves internationally, especially on the experiential side. Something that’s not so new, but we’ll see more of, is the use of drones in filming of events.
A Sustainable Focus
Across the board, everyone is making an effort to minimise their carbon footprint. There is no exception for the events industry. From invites made of recyclable paper to décor made from recycled material, every bit counts. Let’s make the world a greener place, one eco-friendly event at a time!
Colour of the Year
Following on from the sustainability point, Pantone announced their colour of the year: Greenery. We’re looking forward to seeing green everywhere – invites, décor, centre pieces and flower arrangements. Flowers will be a focal point in terms of full arrangements, floral walls and floral ceilings. Sounds absolutely magical!
Less is More
When it comes to MICE – Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions – the industry has seen a shift from larger groups to smaller, niche events. Instead of catering for the masses, businesses are selecting key players when planning these strategic events.
Tell a Story
It’s not a secret that events are no longer merely functions. It’s your chance to tell a story and share an experience with your audience. We hope to see more of this in 2017. Create personalised experiences and leave your guests feeling positively happy. This doesn’t only apply to weddings, which would obviously tell your story as a couple. It’s highly relevant to businesses when engaging clients in your brand story. This is where you would need the expertise and knowledge of an events management company, like us. After all, it’s what we do best.
Until next time, stay inspired.
