Renewing Your Vows

Apr 15, 2016 | Weddings

As mentioned before, there are no set rules when it comes to planning such a unique event. A renewal of your wedding vows can take place anywhere; perhaps a place that is sentimental to you as a couple, or something completely different and exciting as a destination venue. From something as intimate as a ceremony in your garden, to a lavish affair at trendy city scape venue, the possibilities are endless. Our advice would be to be as true to yourselves as possible, this is your day.

Deciding what to wear is easy, there are no rules. Wearing your original suit and wedding dress can spark that very first moment of I do, or a toned down cocktail dress could suite a semi-formal affair. A truly incredible part of renewing your vows is that you can have anyone who is dear to you officiate. Reaffirmation is not a legally binding ceremony, so you can have your original Maid of Honour or Best Man say a few words – or even your children!

So, what exactly does the whole ceremony entail? To begin, you will exchange your vows, recalling what you said when you first tied the knot. Feel free to write your own vows should you not have done so before, as this gives you both the opportunity to express how you really feel after all this time, since the last time you said your vows was probably a few years ago! After you’ve both spoken, you will exchange either your original rings (perhaps have them engraved as a new touch) or you can buy new rings for the occasion.

And now for the fun part, the reception. It can be as big or as small as you like! It could include dinner, dancing, cake- the whole works! Speeches and toasts are always a must and this time round you can reminisce over the years of happiness. Don’t forget to toast those who have stood with you throughout the years.

This time around you can leave the stress behind and really have some fun. Make this your special day, get creative and do everything you missed out on the first time around.

Who knows, you might be renewing your vows again in the next 10 years…

Until Next Week!
