Wedding Expo is in Town
So, you’ve booked your tickets for the Cape Town Wedding Expo. How exciting! We always advise our brides to look for wedding inspiration - whether it’s online, in print or in person - before we start the planning process. Being event specialists, we automatically think in pictures. You mention the kind of things you like, and in our minds we already see what the end product will look like. But sometimes you need visual aids to guide you, we totally get that. That’s why taking your beau along to something like the Wedding Expo is such a fantastic help. You’ll see, touch, smell and taste certain elements of the wedding and you’ll begin to form an idea in your head. We cannot stress how important this process is. It’ll help when briefing suppliers, it’ll help you become more excited and it’ll lay a foundation for the road ahead. Yay! (Is it weird that we STILL get so excited about planning, even after so many years in the industry?) Get ready to feel inspired!
When you think wedding cake, we’re not talking about your favourite aunt’s milk tart. Prepare to see marvelous creations by some of the country’s most talented cake designers. You’ll feel like you stepped into an episode of Cake Boss. Take the time to think about what you’d like. Some brides choose to have two or more cakes. And some prefer to keep it simple. If you and your man have a serious sweet tooth, don’t be shy to sample some of the cakes. You’ll love all the delicious inspiration!
While you might still need to start trying dresses on, scouting the latest wedding fashion trends at the Wedding Expo will give you an idea about what’s out there. You’ll see all the fabulous wedding gowns on the runway at the Fashion Theatre. From bridal gowns to bridesmaid’s attire, the hottest local designers won’t disappoint. This is a great time to think about the colours and styles you’d like for yourself. Can’t picture yourself in pure white? There are so many other shades to choose from. But you’ll see it for yourself!
If you don’t really know the difference between a poeny and a petunia, prepare to get hands on. There are live demonstrations where brides-to-be can get create their own floral arrangements. You’ll develop a new appreciation for the art of arranging flowers! It’s also great to know what you want before meeting with your florist. A clear vision is an invaluable part of planning your wedding day. If you can imagine it using all your senses, it will materialise.
Until then, stay inspired.
