MEGAN MCILRATH

Owner & Event Specialist

With an Honours Degree in Psychology under her belt, and years of industry experience, Megan inspires the “go getter & dream big” ethos we hold at Event Affairs. She heads up the Corporate & Experiential Division with vigour and adores all things opulent and delicious! Her expertise in her field enables her to whip up a corporate event for you in a jiffy whilst growing and managing the business. With her highly organised nature and strict and thorough project management skills, she is a force to be reckoned with in the Corporate Events Industry.

What inspires Megan? “I thrive on creating and successfully executing outdoor & experiential events from scratch. To create an event out of nothing, to take an open space and create a spectacular event is what drives me to be excellent at all times.”

LINDY SRUBIS

Owner & Wedding Specialist

With a Bachelor of Arts in Drama and English behind her, the Shakespearean quote “All the Worlds a Stage” is a motto Lindy lives by. Her passion for events began in London and followed her back home to Cape Town over ten years ago and she has never looked back. Her love for Weddings and all Personal Celebrations enticed her into running the Wedding and Private Events Division at Event Affairs while marketing and managing the business. Her acute attention to detail, bubbly personality and love for people and all things beautiful, are Lindy’s secret ingredients when it comes to planning the celebration of your dreams!

What Inspires Lindy? “People Inspire me. From the first meeting with a Bridal couple to catching up with them a year after their wedding. I love to celebrate love and celebrate people - this is the spice of life!”

Claire Helyar

Project Manager

Claire grew up in Johannesburg but set her sights on a career in Cape Town. She initially studied patisserie, where she discovered a passion for creating beautiful wedding cakes. Since then, she furthered her studies with a diploma in Events Management. Claire, brings a youthful, innovative and energetic perspective to the design of our events. Claire offers refreshing creativity as well as unwavering focus which results in even the smallest details tended to, with the Event Affairs flair.

What inspires Claire? "From the moment a client explains the reason behind their celebration, I am inspired. My mind comes alive with ideas and this is what drives me to help them turn their dream day into a reality. I love to share in the passion and joy of the occasion, It's like magic unfolding before my eyes!"

Kim Park

Events Assistant

Kim is a born and bred Capetonian and loves all things event orientated that this vibrant city has to offer. After school, she decided to pursue her passion for the events industry and studied her diploma in events management. From there, her love for events management  was confirmed throughout her studies and she could not wait to practically apply her knowledge within the events world. Kim has proved that her organization and love for this fabulous industry is where she wants to be for her career.

What inspires Kim? The sense of accomplishment I feel when I see the biggest smile on a client’s face after a successful celebration drives me to produce events that surpass our client’s expectations. The magnificence of seeing how every small detail added together creates the bigger picture is what motivates me to strive for meticulous perfection when conceptualising and executing an event.

 

Darren Whitaker

Operations & Logistics

Having worked with Megan and Lindy in the industry since 2007, Darren is practically part of the furniture. Darren exudes the phrase ‘as cool as a cucumber’ – his calm approach to all events and tasks makes him an absolute asset to Event Affairs and a pleasure to work with. Clients adore his friendly and charming demeanour and he brings a wonderful dry sense of humour to every situation. His willingness to help and ‘nothing is too much’ attitude makes him the perfect 2ic to both weddings and corporate events.

What inspires Darren? “Passion & positive feedback. I have a real passion and drive for the events industry. I pride myself in the ability to take on wholeheartedly any given task and apply myself accordingly. Upon completing a project, to receive positive feedback from a client is what drives me to do my best. There is nothing more gratifying than seeing a client’s vision come to life and knowing I played a role in their momentary euphoria! “
