DRA Global - Mining Indaba
For over 20 years the Investing in African Mining Indaba has been a global event uniting investors, mining companies, governments and other stakeholders from around the world to learn and network, all toward the single goal of advancing mining, and other important causes in Africa.
More than 80% of those who come to Mining Indaba say their primary goal is to meet likeminded professionals under one roof, and DRA Global is no different. For the past 3 years we at Event Affairs have been working closely with DRA global to create unique networking opportunities through hosting networking breakfasts, finger food lunches and meeting rooms – much like a slow lounge.
Taking place over 3 days of the Mining Indaba, it is a really fantastic opportunity for the sales & marketing team of DRA to meet with their clients and treat them to something quite different from the other social functions that open over Mining Indaba, and as a Cape Town based events management planner (company rather than planner?), Event Affairs was perfectly suited to deliver.
What made this such a memorable event to plan and co-ordinate, for such a diversified engineering group, is the fact that Event Affairs was allowed to make use of their offices in the Foreshore which has the most stunning views of Lions Head, The Harbour and the surrounds of Cape Town. As a central location it really was the perfect venue and setting for a more personal interaction.
We created a networking atmosphere by setting up their large boardroom with high conversational tables and cocktail tables with barstools, so that when guests arrived at 7am, the CEO had the perfect platform from which to deliver his welcome speech, before guests were served a delectable breakfast buffet with professional barista’s serving any hot drink the guests desire.
To facilitate unscheduled and scheduled day time meetings, a lounge area in their smaller boardroom was set up for comfort, yet still corporate and business-like. Snacks and refreshments were also at hand.
At midday, a lunch buffet was catered for.
Later in the afternoon, DRA staff were encouraged to bring their guests back to the offices to enjoy drinks in their bar which overlooks Lions Head. A professional barman attends to their every need and snacks such as biltong, nuts and crisps are set out for them to nibble.
